This fictional city scene in a Maryland warehouse district was so fun to create - painting layer by layer - the bricks, coats of paint on top of them, graffiti, metal accents with reflected light, distress, cracks, puddles, fog, etc.As a quick disclaimer to start this review, Under Pressure is actually a pretty good album, provided the name Kendrick Lamar means nothing to you – or rather, provided hip-hop means nothing to you. In this case it’s less literal history and more representative of his art, music, and where it comes from.

I don’t know, man, that’s what came out, that’s what I wrote, that’s what I felt. I’ve had people go, ‘Oh it’s dark, but it's not that dark,’ and others go, ‘It’s pretty dark.’ The stories are fucked up and crazy. But it’s the hip-hop they’re going to want, they’re going to love the subject matter. My fans are not going to be prepared for the story I’m about to tell them, and they’re not going to be prepared for the sonics they’re going to hear because it’s like nothing I’ve ever done before. I could have went radio, because I know I have the talent, and make it a fun record.
Logic says “I could have went one or two ways on this album. The album is along the lines of good kid, m.A.A.d City more than anything else because it’s a dark story, that’s just what it is. It's also narrated by a voice named Thalia who pops up between songs to reveal tidbits about the album-an homage to A Tribe Called Quest's Midnight Marauders. The album features no guest verses- except for the ones on the bonus tracks - and is mostly produced by Logic's in-house producer 6ix and Logic himself, but also features beats from producers like DJ Dahi and S1. "Under Pressure" is much darker than his previous work and features some very harrowing details about Logic's troubled upbringing on songs like "Gang Related" and lead single " Under Pressure".

The album is not only incredible as far as the music goes, but kicking out a few bucks for an artist that has given us so much for free is the least anyone can do. Logic has invested half a million dollars of his own money into this album. to date he has released over 150 songs for free. He has recorded over 17,000 songs in 9 years, which is an insane number. This one, is introspective and vivid, and he paints pictures where he grew up. to put together his proper debut on Def Jam. Logic has spent most of the past year on the road, and has finally linked up with Hit-Boy and No I.D. Daisy" featuring Childish Gambino, " Alright" featuring Big Sean, and " Now". The deluxe version includes 3 additional tracks: " Driving Ms. About Album: While the standard version doesn’t have any features, the deluxe is a different story.
